PhD Position in Himalayan Glacial Geomorphology

There is a vacancy for a PhD Research Fellow in Quaternary Geology and Palaeoclimate at the University of Bergen to explore the influence of glacier dynamics and palaeoclimate on moraine formation in the monsoon-influenced Himalaya. The project will combine fieldwork in the central Himalaya with ice-dynamical glacier evolution modelling, remote sensing and sediment laboratory analyses. The requirements for the post are broadly defined, and there is flexibility for the successful applicant to co-design their programme of research.

The deadline to apply is Friday 5th April 2024. The position is for three years with the possibility of a 4th year. The start date is ideally 1st July 2024.

PhD candidates in Norway are employed as university staff and benefit from a good salary, pension contributions and welfare benefits, as well as support for research costs and conference attendance.
